The book aims at raising some issues concerning expected outcomes of Initial Secondary Teacher Education, following up recent Council of Europe indications and studies. Comparative sketches of TE features in some EU countries allow to outline possible developments, towards a shared EU TE curriculum. Against this background, the European project EMETT (European Master for European Teacher Training), within the Erasmus Life Long Learning programme, has developed its objectives, aiming at an agreed common curriculum for European Secondary Teacher Education, by means of a joint degree at master’s level. The project has involved eight EU university institutions, providers of initial and in-service secondary teacher education, representing main European geographical areas – with the University of Venice as leading institution, responsible for project management.
