This presentation looks at the role of the CEFR in defining descriptors for a 'co-certification' for university students of English. The co-certification is a proficiency test jointly administered byTrinity College London and the University of Venice Ca' Foscari, and calibrated to the CEFR. The presentation focuses on the identification of a construct for 'critical writing', and elaboration of can-do statements for levels B2 and C1 of the CEFR.
