This work deals with analytical modeling of synchronization delay experienced in multiprocessing systems which execute redundant software to improve dependability figures. We propose a stochastic model based on a queuing network approach of system behavior. We derive a bounded approximation of the distribution function of synchronization delay by applying the matrix-geometric technique to analyze the model. An exact aggregation of the underlying Markov process is applied to cope with the exponential growth of the state space. Experimental results show that a very tight approximation can be achieved at a low computational time complexity.

Abstract
This work deals with analytical modeling of synchronization delay experienced in multiprocessing systems which execute redundant software to improve dependability figures. We propose a stochastic model based on a queuing network approach of system behavior. We derive a bounded approximation of the distribution function of synchronization delay by applying the matrix-geometric technique to analyze the model. An exact aggregation of the underlying Markov process is applied to cope with the exponential growth of the state space. Experimental results show that a very tight approximation can be achieved at a low computational time complexity.I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
