It is more and more evident that in many different cultural fields (especially such as theology, psychoanalysis, human sciences etc.) we need nowadays a new epistemology, able to give a unitary reference system to relevant subjects. The figure of the father is one of the subjects which can provide an argument able to favour such a research, since it requires a methodology which has to unify scientific, objective knowledge and existential, affective implications. In my paper I try to show how to reach a unitary, comprehensive logic demands the overcoming of the dualistic, i.e. negative nature of our traditional logic. If the split is the source both of mental, religious, existential and social disease, then it is contradictory to front this problem with a “splitting” logic, such as the logic founded on the contraposition between positive and negative, between true and false, and so on. But, in overcoming this kind of logic, the greatest risk is to create a new, radical split between dualistic logic and a would-be non dualistic thought.
