The essay presents the edition of the oldest preserved commission forms for the governors appointed to administrate Venetian possessions in Istria and Dalmatia. The issue is part of the project Political communication in the Adriatic Area: Venetian governors and their commissions (13th -16th centuries), made possible thanks to funding by the Region of Veneto (in compliance with Regional law n.15/1994) – and the contribution of the Venetian Deputation of National History, the Department of Humanistic Studies of Ca’ Foscari University and the Centre for Historical Research of Rovigno.
