This paper examines some examples of transitive prefixed verbs derived from intransitive unprefixed verbs, wich can be either atelic (such as stojati, sěděti, ležati) or telic (lězti, iti, stupiti) in the Early East Slavic Povest' vremennyx let (11th-12th centuries). The analysis shows that a change of the argument roles can take place in verbal phrase when the basic unprefixed verbs are unaccusatives. If these unprefixed unaccusative verbs are atelic, the derived prefixed verbs become transitive and telic (for example obъstojati/ostojati, osěděti, obъležati), if otherwise they are telic, the derived prefixed verbs become transitive with a resultative meaning (for example nalězti, proiti, zastupiti, prestupiti).
