Osservazioni sulla prefissazione dei verbi chodit' e ezdit' in russo

The aim of this paper is to verify how in Russian language superlexical and lexical prefixes (see for this distinction, among others, Svenonius 2004, Richardson 2007, Tolskaya 2007) form perfect verbs from the indeterminate motion verbs chodit’ and ezdit’. These atelic stems give rise to verbs indicating Aktionsart with the delimitative prefix po- (‘for a while’), the inchoative za- (‘begin’) and the prefix meaning ‘cessation of action’ ot- (‘stop’). This is a standard result in Russian for atelic stems attached to the superlexical prefixes po-, za- and ot-. But the same verbs chodit’ and ezdit’ can give rise to other perfect verbs in such expressions as vychodit’ / otchodit’ bol’nogo or vychodit’ rebenka, ischodit’ ves’ park and naezdit’ 100 km. In these cases, telic transitive verbs are derived with a direct object always expressed in VP. Here the prefixes are lexical and we have a not standard result.
