The article sheds light on two meanings of lightness, which Nietzsche places in mutual contrast: the superficial lightness of modern man, who, weak and exhausted, only needs to shake off the weight of life, and the lightness of a Nietzschean man who, like a god or a Greek hero, moves lightly because he knows how to easily drag heavy weights. The analysis unfolds by taking into consideration the Nietzschean concepts of measure and Bildung, as well as the contrast with Wagner.

Abstract

The article sheds light on two meanings of lightness, which Nietzsche places in mutual contrast: the superficial lightness of modern man, who, weak and exhausted, only needs to shake off the weight of life, and the lightness of a Nietzschean man who, like a god or a Greek hero, moves lightly because he knows how to easily drag heavy weights. The analysis unfolds by taking into consideration the Nietzschean concepts of measure and Bildung, as well as the contrast with Wagner.
