Criticità e contraddizioni delle politiche di ricezione dei richiedenti asilo in Italia

As a consequence of the “refugee crisis”, in the summer of 2014 Italy introduced a reception system which aimed to overcome the emergency approach that had hitherto been dominant. Nevertheless, the implementation of the law has been hampered by several factors, such as the scarce availability of municipalities in hosting refugees and the long time required to obtain a decision about international protection. In addition to that, since 2017 asylum-seeker policies became more and more restrictive. The note presents the current scenario of reception policy in Italy and highlights its principal weaknesses and contradictions.
