The paper reports on the results of the archaeomalacological study of the stratigraphic sequence of UTS 1000 in Marano (Cupra Marittima – Ascoli Piceno). After proposing a short report regarding the excavation itself, we focus on the archaeomalacological analysis, taking into account both marine and terrestrial species. The study ascertains that between the 14th and the 15th century, the area was occupied by meadows, even small ones, very close to houses, that can be interpreted as backyards. In the second main period of the sequence, between the 18th and 19th centuries, the area is characterized by the presence of ruderal species, which is perfectly consistent with the dismantlement of a post-medieval building.
