The volume collects poetic evidence of interest in the figure and work of Dante among readers from the thirteenth to the sixteenth century. These are documents of great appeal to the reader and the scholar, up to now difficult to consult, now made available in a single volume. The first two sections collect a series of poetic texts long attributed to Dante and which, once proved inauthentic by modern scholars, have no longer been available. The introductions and comments by the editors illustrate the reasons why poets, reader-copyists and editors of the past had instead read, copied or published them as Dante's works.
