The work combines the autobiography of the author - feminist writer, academic and activist married to Palestinian poet Murid al-Barghouti - with the story of an imaginary female Egyptian character, a historian who carries out research on the construction of the Suez Canal (inaugurated in 1869) and another on the Deir Yassin massacre (Palestine, April 9, 1948).
