The chapter focuses on the case of the city of Venice, Italy, and on the situation that this destination has been facing since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, generating heavy negative effects not only on tourism but on the entire social and economic system of the city. The chapter provides first of all a picture of the pre-pandemic situation, in particular in 2019, both in terms of flows and economic dimension. The description of "the way we were" is followed by the analysis of the consequences produced by the pandemic on tourism. Finally, the scenarios between restart and sustainability will be envisaged, paying particular attention to the responsiveness of tourism companies to recover in front of the crisis
