Reprint of a 2005 essay in a collection of "significant criticism of the world's greatest poets" in well-established series designed "to serve as an introduction to major poets of all eras and nationalities". The reason for inclusion of the essay are given by the editor on p. 3 of the publication: "Flavio Gregori (2005) contended that the 'walker', or the observer of the town and city life in 'Trivia', is neither a detached outsider nor a strict adherent to one ideological view of the sorroundings. Gregori characterized the walker's observations as 'an audacious enterprise, pregnant with moral, Virgilian overtones about man's role in the foundation of civilization".
