A profound metaphysic tension prevails Luciano Erba’s poetry, which appears to stem from an intense need for contact with the Transcendent. There is a sense of urgency to communicate with the Holy Writ, which is often the starting point for troubled existential reflections. This work looks at the entire production of the poet, analyzing the works that highlight the role of the lyrical self as a “reader of signs”, and his spiritual exploration of a faith that is strong but constantly put to the test.

Abstract

A profound metaphysic tension prevails Luciano Erba’s poetry, which appears to stem from an intense need for contact with the Transcendent. There is a sense of urgency to communicate with the Holy Writ, which is often the starting point for troubled existential reflections. This work looks at the entire production of the poet, analyzing the works that highlight the role of the lyrical self as a “reader of signs”, and his spiritual exploration of a faith that is strong but constantly put to the test.
