The harmonization of AI technologies with people’s lives is a collective effort that involves a variety of positions and approaches, and we do think that to make them dialogue is of the utmost importance. This volume goes precisely in this direction. It has no pretension to exhaust the debate on dependable AI or present a fully coherent narrative of the problem. It rather offers an overview of the field and its main social and ethical issues, by providing different perspectives that complement each other and contribute to explore more critically the ongoing debates
