The book was born in the context of the Need study center, acronym for Nature, ethics, economics, law, which includes the Master's degree in administration and management of wildlife at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice. The topic is the subject of scientific analysis with the clarification that the approach is not limited to ecology and biology, but is also extended to law, ethics and economics. The investigation of technical sciences is also associated with humanistic investigation, with particular regard to the symbolic codification of the wolf, because to resolve conflicts between man and the wolf it is necessary to know the wolf but also man. Hence the title "The wolf between myth and reality" in the idea that the symbolic value is not opposed to the technical analyzes but contributes with them to determine the terms of the question and the hypotheses of solution.
