Abstract

Selective hydrogenation of olefins and ketones promoted by polymer-bound cationic rhodium(I) catalysts is reported. A different catalytic behaviour is found depending on the substituents on the phosphorus atom of the polymeric ligand. The effect of the polymer on the stability of supported complexes towards reduction, and on the fate of the catalysts is discussed. In some cases polymer trapped Rh11 compounds are present at the end of the catalytic cycle. © 1975.
