The monumental figured marble capital preserved in the Giardino Giusti in Verona must be identified with the capital drawn in the sixteenth-century engraving by Giovanni Caroto, from which it appears that it was at that time close to the church of Santa Cecilia, a short distance from the forum of the Roman city Roman. The capital dates to the middle of the 1st century d.C., and shows cornucopias at the corners, and on each side female protomes representing Tellus and Ceres. The provenance, and the relation with a long known inscription allow to attribute the piece to the basilica of the Roman forum.
