Note sui dativi in -οις davanti a waw etimologico: i casi di Il. XXIII 535 e Od. XIII 334

This paper aims at analysing the nature of ‘short’ datives of the o-stems before a vowel etymologically preceded by waw in the Homeric poems. In particular, it focuses on the occurrences in Il. XXIII 535 and Od. XIII 334. While in the latter the ending -οις may be interpreted as a secondary adaptation from -οισι (created after the loss of waw in the pronunciation, as in the case of -οις ἐπέεσσι), in the former the inflection may be considered as original and it could be an argument for the ancient nature of -οις before a consonant in the Homeric poems.
