The paper aims at outlining the fairly copious œuvre of Domenico Ricci (1885-1957): a twentieth-century Italian translator of Greek tragedies (as well as a poet, a teacher and a headmaster of junior secondary school), who in spite of the fair success he gained at his time, is still unknown both to his fellow citizens and to scholars. Though the emphasis is laid on his metaphrastic activity, which is briefly contextualized and exemplified, his poetic output is nonetheless sketched out; and because of the complete lack of information about him, reference is made to some biographic details and to his full bibliography.
