Food-related cultural constructions and representations are central elements in the experiences of migrant women and men in the context of their daily life, perceived as a place to “feel at home” or, on the contrary, as space of the experience of exile. This article deepen the ways in which food and food-related narratives may acquire different meanings on the basis of social, biographical, family, migratory, generational and gender placements of the social actors: embedded identity practices or element of generational conflicts, space of comfort or terrain of clash, forms of symbolic resistance or symbols of social downward mobility and degradation.

Abstract
