How far can we explain the external attraction of objects, good and consumer products on the senses and the imagination of the people? How do the aesthetic enticements (in the dual sense of the sensitive perception and the "beauty" of the formal lines) they exert in the new context of exposure in modern life as described by Simmel, menage to condition and transform the very means of perception and come close to works of art? By opening up a perspective which goes beyond the interpretation of the fetishist nature of goods described by Marx, Simmel gives us an interpretation of the psychic and socio-economic dynamics, shedding light on the phenomenon of how the senses are fascinated by the external form of object and how they are displayed.
