This article focuses on the masculine narrative of Chileanness through the visual culture surrounding the copper industry’s nationalization during the Salvador Allende government (1970-1973). Using official Popular Unity graphics, the article explores the reasoning behind masculine representations vis-à-vis the national rhetoric and its plurisocial roots while transposing them onto the current reality, thus allowing the redefinition of national dignity.

Abstract
